Piston-type hydraulic shock absorber

(VT.198.N) The piston-type hydraulic shock absorber is designed to compensate sudden pressure surges (water hammer) in pressurized piping systems by means of spring elastic deformation.

As a rule, water hammer occurs due to sudden changes in fluid flow velocity, for example when water flow is abruptly shut off by a mixing tap.

To ensure maximum efficiency of the arrester, it is recommended to install a pressure reducing valve at the water supply system inlet, maintaining system pressure at 3–4 bar.

Arresters can be installed in any mounting position. However, they should be placed as close as possible to the device that can generate water hammer when quickly shutting off the water flow.
